Rain continues this evening with drier air moving in Wednesda

Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the week ahead

Tonight, showers and thunderstorms will remain likely through the evening hours, gradually tapering off late. Overnight lows will settle near 71 degrees with light south winds becoming calm. Rainfall will generally range from a tenth to a quarter of an inch, though heavier amounts are possible in stronger thunderstorms.

Wednesday stays active with another round of showers and storms possible early in the day, and highs topping out near 80 degrees with an east wind around 10 to 15 mph. By Wednesday night, rain begins to wind down before a mostly dry overnight period. Lows will fall into the upper 60s with continued breezy east winds.

Thursday brings a brief break in the widespread rain with mostly sunny skies and highs near 82. However, the break is short-lived as breezy east winds persist and a few late-night showers begin to return.

Looking ahead, rain chances gradually increase again on Friday and into the weekend, as tropical moisture from the Gulf begins to migrate northward along with a weak area of low pressure. Periodic showers and thunderstorms will remain possible each day with highs generally in the lower to mid 80s and warm, humid conditions continuing.
