Mississippi Power is Storm Ready

Hurricane season officially begins June 1st, and Mississippi Power says crews are already preparing for whatever this season may bring. Company leaders recently met to finalize storm preparation plans and make sure every department is ready to respond if severe weather impacts the coast. Mississippi Power says crews train year‑round and continue working to strengthen the power grid ahead of hurricane season. Brad Falls with Mississippi Power has more on how they have been preparing for the months ahead.  “So storm season for us is really year round throughout the year we train on our specific storm assignments and addition to that over the last several years we’ve invested a lot of money into our system upgrading our facilities so we’ll withstand severe winds up to 140 – 150 miles per hour… in addition to that we’ve put the best into our distribution systems and into self healing networks to limit millions of customers outage minutes over the past several years.”

Mississippi Power wants customers to know they are ready to respond if and as needed and urges families to have safety plans in place this hurricane season.
