Warm and mostly dry weekend ahead

Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the week ahead

A warm and mainly dry stretch of weather is ahead for South Mississippi this weekend, with temperatures climbing into the lower 80s each afternoon. Tonight will stay partly cloudy and mild, with lows only falling into the upper 60s.

Saturday starts mostly cloudy before sunshine breaks through later in the day, helping temperatures reach around 81 degrees. Skies clear out Saturday night, setting up a mostly sunny and pleasant Sunday with highs in the low 80s and a breezy southeast wind. We could see a few stray showers or storms on Sunday but the chance is pretty isolated.

The warm, humid pattern continues into early next week with highs remaining in the lower to middle 80s. Rain chances stay low through Monday before a few more showers and thunderstorms begin returning Tuesday and continue in scattered fashion through the end of the week.
