Hancock High students speak after ICE detention

HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Hancock High students Israel and Max Makoka are back home in Diamondhead and they are speaking out about their ICE detention.

The brothers were taken into ICE custody due to alleged issues with their student visas on April 21 while waiting for the school bus.

Now, the brothers and their host family say they’re adjusting to being back home in Diamondhead and are thankful for the outpouring of community support.

It is unclear at this time what will come next for the Makoka brothers, but WXXV will keep you updated as we learn more.
