5/1 – Sam’s Friday night forecast
Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the week ahead
A wet and unsettled night is on tap, with showers and thunderstorms bringing the potential for heavy rainfall, with up to an inch possible in spots, along with breezy northeast winds behind a cold front.
Conditions improve quickly on Saturday as rain chances taper off early in the morning. Skies will gradually clear through the day, and although it will remain a bit breezy with north winds gusting up to 25 mph, highs should climb into the low 70s.
A much more comfortable stretch settles in for the rest of the weekend. Sunday looks especially pleasant, with plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid 70s. Cooler nights in the low 50s and upper 40s will make for a slightly chilly start to each morning, but as we head into next week, we’ll see a bit of a warming trend.
Highs will steadily climb into the upper 70s and low 80s by Tuesday under mostly sunny skies. However, increasing moisture will bring back the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms by midweek, particularly Wednesday into Thursday.
