Woman facing arson charge related to wood fire in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- A woman is facing an arson charge after a fire in a wooded area in Gautier Monday.

Forty-eight-year-old Jennifer Gutknecht is being held at the Jackson County Jail on that charge.

Gautier police were called to Ladner Road just before 2 a.m. after multiple 911 calls reporting flames in the woods.

Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control, but police found Gutknecht walking near a tent in the area.

Investigators found evidence consistent with the fire starting near her tent.

No injuries were reported and the investigation into the fire continues.
