Woman charged in child abuse investigation in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- A Jackson County woman is charged in an ongoing child abuse investigation.

Sheriff’s investigators say the investigation into 46-year-old Melissa Pearson began in September 2025. Details are limited, but we do know the case involves a juvenile known to Pearson.

She now faces one count of child abuse, and the Mississippi Department of Corrections has also charged Pearson with probation violation as a result of this arrest.
