Local Gold Star family’s home paid off by Tunnel to Towers
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- A Gulfport Gold Star Family is receiving a life-changing gift. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid off the mortgage on their home, honoring the legacy of local Navy Seabee who served his country for more than a decade.
A powerful act of gratitude is helping a Gold Star Gulfport family find peace of mind.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid the mortgage in full for the family of Navy Petty Officer First Class Christopher Eckman, ensuring his wife and daughter can remain in the home they built together.
Eckman served 13 years in the U.S. Navy as a steelworker with the Seabees, completing multiple oversees deployments. He passed away in 2011 due to a service-connected illness.
During his career, he earned several honors including the Navy Good Conduct Medal with Bronze stars, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
