3/13 – Sam’s Friday night forecast

Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the week ahead

Quiet and pleasant weather continues through the weekend with sunshine and highs in the mid 70s Saturday and upper 70s to low 80s on Sunday.

Late Sunday night, a cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms to south Mississippi, and some storms could become strong to severe. Damaging wind would be the main threat, though small hail or an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out completely. Temperatures will drop quickly behind the front as winds shift to the north and gust up to around 30 mph.

Cooler air settles in by Monday morning with breezy conditions, lows in the 40s and highs in the 50s, followed by another cold morning on Tuesday before a gradual warmup back into the 70s by late next week.
