Incumbent Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith will face Democrat Scott Colom in November

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)– With most of the vote in for the Republican and Democratic primaries for Mississippi’s Class II U.S Senate seat, the stage is now set for the November general election.

In the Republican primary, Incumbent Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith easily defeated challenger Sarah Adlahka as she seeks another six-year term in the upper chamber.

As of 12:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, Hyde-Smith led with 80.8% of the vote, compared to Adlahka’s 19.2%, with 93% of the votes counted, according to the Associated Press. 

In the Democratic primary, Mississippi 16th Judicial District Attorney Scott Colom easily came out on top of a field of three challengers to secure the nomination.

As of 12:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, Colom stands at 73.1% of the vote, with Priscilla Williams-Till at 18.4% and Albert Littell at 8.5% of the vote, with 91% of all votes counted statewide, also according to the Associated Press. 

Hyde-Smith and Colom will now appear on the November general election ballot as the nominees for their respective parties. Independent Ty Pinkins will also appear on the ballot for this race in November.
