New arcade development coming to Bay St. Louis in 2027

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WXXV) — Downtown Bay St. Louis is known for its restaurants, shops, and arts scene, but there’s one thing its missing: a fun spot for kids.

A group of local developers recently tore down the old real estate office at 105 N. Beach Boulevard, and in its place they will soon break ground on Bay Play – a four story arcade and bar, or in their words: a “bar-cade,” mixing a fun arcade for kids of all ages and a hangout for adults.

“We decided to do a four-story ‘bar-cade,’ where the first three stories will be arcade games and the fourth story will be more of a lounge area where we could have birthday parties, private events, corporate events. It’ll be a nice area for parents to get away as well. Also, I believe it’ll be a venue that’s needed for large social gatherings that are different from restaurants,” said Miles Corbitt, part owner of the new development. “What we realize is there’s not much for kids to do here in town. We used to have a skating rink that’s no longer, movie theatre that’s no longer. There’s not much available for them. So, that was the concept. We thought it’d be a lot different if we offered arcade games. We like arcade games, kids like them as well, so we figured it would be an interesting concept.”

Jeremy Burke, Director of Planning for Bay St. Louis, says they’re always excited to expand, and they’re looking forward to welcoming the new development.

“It’s something that Bay St. Louis does not have. We can all agree that we have a lot of stuff to do for families, adults, sometimes lacking stuff for kids and teenagers to do is one of the things, and they’re trying to fill the void,” said Burke. “Anymore options that we can have for people to do in Bay St. Louis is great for people of Bay St. Louis and visitors, and obviously for our local tax base. It’s gonna be a great addition to all of that. It gonna give another reason to come to Bay St. Louis. It’s gonna be another thing for people that live here to do. The more options the better.”

They plan to break ground on the new development very soon and are hoping to open doors to the public in early 2027.
