UPDATE: Two killed, three injured in deadly I-10 crash in Jackson County identified

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- The two victims killed and three injured in the deadly crash on I-10 in Jackson County have been identified.

On Wednesday, Mississippi Highway Patrol, along with other emergency personnel, responded to the fatal accident on I-10 in Jackson County.

According to MHP, a Ford prisoner transport van owned by St. Joseph Detention Center out of Daytona, Florida was traveling west on I-10. The vehicle, driven by 32-year-old Michael Valera of Florida, was also occupied by another employee of St. Joseph Detention Center, 27-year-old Javier Arroyo, and two out of state inmates, 34-year-old William Rodman, and 29-year-old Raymond Boertmann.

The van collided with a utility truck, driven by 54-year-old Jerry Jenkins of Gautier.

Following the collision, the prisoner van left the road, overturned, and then caught fire.

Valera and Rodman received fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Arroyo and Boertmann received life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to an out-of-state hospital for treatment.

Jenkins received serious injuries and transported from the scene by ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
