YMCA breaks ground on aquatics project

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- YMCA leaders and community members gathered in Ocean Springs to mark the start of a long-anticipated aquatics project.

Shovels hit the dirt today as construction officially got underway on two brand new pools at the YMCA, made possible through a $3.7 million investment.

The project included a full replacement of the aging indoor pool along with major upgrades to the natatorium building, plus a much larger outdoor pool for swimmers.

YMCA leaders say these upgrades were long overdue and designed to better serve the community for years to come.

The YMCA is expecting construction to be complete by the end of the year.
