Students get hands-on public safety demonstration in Ocean Springs

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- First responders and students came together in Ocean Springs yesterday for a hands-on look at public safety in action.

Students got a front row seat to see how local first responders prepare for real life emergencies.

Firefighters at the Ocean Springs Fire Training Facility demonstrated search and rescue techniques using brand new self-contained breathing apparatus in smoke-filled conditions.

The new air packs were approved by the board of aldermen in a $250,000 investment. At the same time, Ocean Springs High School students visited the city’s emergency operations center as part of a new public law and safety course.
