Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department warns of new scam
A new scam alert going around is involving another South Mississippi law enforcement agency, this time in Pearl River County.
The sheriff’s department says they’ve recently received reports from residents saying they have gotten phone calls from people impersonating sheriff’s deputies and claiming to be conducting investigations.
The scammers have been using specific names, including sergeants Johnson, Anthony, and Howell.
As always, law enforcement agencies will never threaten legal action or demand payment over the phone.
