Local volunteers build beds for children in need

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Junior’s legacy of service, local volunteers spent the morning building beds for children in need.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace joined rotary clubs from across the coast at the event.

Seventy volunteers gathered at the Jackson County Fairgrounds to build 20 beds for children who currently sleep without one.

Organizers say this project helps meet a basic need while making a lasting impact for local kids.

The beds built today will stock the local warehouse and help ensure every child has a safe space to sleep.
