Boomtown Casino celebrates grand opening of new bakery

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) — Boomtown Casino in Biloxi is celebrating the grand opening of a new highly anticipated bakery.

Over five years after the beloved bakery inside Boomtown Casino closed its doors, a new sweets shop has officially opened for business.

Crowds gathered today for the ribbon cutting of BAYkery, where guests not only got a first look at the space, but also sampled trays of milkshakes, bon bons, and other handcrafted treats.

“We’re really excited to open the bakery in Boomtown. People have been asking me for years to re-open the bakery that was very popular to the community in the years past. Everyone bought their cakes and pies here apparently, because everyone told me they did,” said Barry Regula, Vice President and General Manager of Boomtown and Hollywood casinos. “We wanted to bring it back better than ever. We brought it back with a lot of additional things. We have breakfast sandwiches and PJ’s Coffee. We have macarons and confections, roasted nuts. We have milkshakes and ice cream. Everything that could possibly make your diet go off the rails, we have it here at the BAYkery at Boomtown.

Shilah McCollum with the Biloxi Chamber says not only is the city excited to have this addition, but personally, it reminds her of her own childhood.

“One of our missions for the chamber is connecting, and developing, and innovating our businesses to grow. So, we are here for a grand opening of the BAYkery, which we haven’t had a bakery in a really long time. It really brings back memories for me because as a kid because I used to come here all the time for the bakeries and the buffets, so it’s so good to see them thriving and getting back to the works of things here at Boomtown Casino,” said McCollum.

The BAYkery will be open every Wednesday – Sunday.
