New details on charges in razor bread case at Walmarts in Biloxi

Benson

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- We’re learning more about the woman accused of putting razor blades inside loaves of bread at two Biloxi Walmart stores.

Investigators say the suspect is not from Mississippi and they are now working to determine a motive.

Police say the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Camille Benson of Texas, is now facing a charge of attempted mayhem after multiple reports of sharp metal blades found inside packaged bread in Biloxi.

Authorities say the investigation began after customers reported discovering what appeared to be razor blades embedded inside loaves of bread purchased from two Walmart locations, one on CT Switzer Drive and one on Pass Road.

The incidents prompted an immediate response, including removing affected products from store shelves and notifying the public.

Benson was taken into custody, processed, and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center Tuesday, December 16 and Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain set bond at $100,000.

Officials have not said what led to the alleged actions, but they confirm the case is being treated as intentional.

Benson remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Walmart’s corporate office released more guidance Wednesday for customers in this case.

Anyone who purchased baked goods from the stores on CT Switzer Drive and Pass Road between December 5th and 15th should check those items thoroughly.

They also say that this was an isolated incident and that there are no nationwide impacts or recalls on any goods.
