Local kids Shop With A Cop in Gulfport
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — Local kids got the chance to shop with a cop on Tuesday at the Walmart Supercenter on Highway 49.
Five kids with the Boys and Girls Club- ranging from first to eighth grade- got some help from Gulfport police to tick items off their Christmas lists. They were each given $300 to spend on whatever they chose.
Boys and Girls Club Director Chavonne Perkins says they selected the kids based on their families, their need, and by who would benefit the most from the opportunity.
Hoverboards, baby dolls, basketballs and even groceries were on their lists this year. They bought gifts for not only themselves, but for their families too.
Each of these kids was extremely grateful for this opportunity and could not wait to bring their gifts home.
