Update on local air travel situation due to shutdown

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- There was better news for air travelers coming through Gulfport-Biloxi International during the shutdown.

Airport officials say only nine flights were canceled in the past week, whereas elsewhere across the country there were more headaches due to a shortage of air traffic controllers.

In a statement, airport leaders thanked local TSA agents and air traffic controllers for their work in keeping the airport running smoothly during the shutdown.
