City of Moss Point releases comprehensive assessment of police department

MOSS POINT, Miss. (WXXV)- The City of Moss Point has released a comprehensive assessment of the Moss Point Police Department after former Chief Brandon Ashley and a number of officers left the force in recent months.
The city asked the Mississippi Department of Public Safety to put together the assessment as a way to chart a path forward to reorganizing the department.
DPS officials recommend a 90-day stabilization plan for the department with goals to add a deputy chief, re-staffing the criminal investigations division, and establishing regular meetings between department leaders and the mayor.
