Former Biloxi Councilman George Lawrence dies

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- The City of Biloxi is mourning the loss of a longtime civic leader. Former City Councilman George Lawrence has died.

Lawrence was first elected to the council in 2001 and retired in 2025 after six terms.

In addition to his role on the council, Lawrence was a mainstay at community events in the Point Cadet area.

Earlier this year, the city recognized Lawrence and his years of service to the city by naming the Point Cadet Pavilion in his honor.
