Extra Table doubling food distribution during November
A nonprofit food bank is crafting an emergency response plan to feed Mississippi families as concerns continue to grow over SNAP benefits funding.
Extra Table is doubling its distribution to its food pantry partners this month.
Executive Director Martha Allen Price says that means thousands of pounds of food will be shipped out and over $200,000 will be spent.
Trucks of sweet potatoes, rice, and possibly even eggs will be shared among 66 food pantries across the state.
The organization serves ten food pantries along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
