Traffic stop leads to felony drug arrests in Pearl River County

PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department made a major drug bust Monday during a routine traffic stop.

At about 6 p.m. Monday night, a deputy noticed the occupants were not wearing seatbelts and when they tried to stop the vehicle, the vehicle accelerated and was seen discarding items from windows.

The vehicle was later stopped on Abbott Street where 55-year-old Jeffrey Howard, 31-year-old Morgan Waters, and 37-year-old Brandon Fischer were detained.

Deputies also recovered a clear bag containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine, along with a pouch containing used syringes.

Following the investigation, all three were arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and felony tampering with physical evidence.
