New boat launch facility coming to Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Jackson County is moving forward with a new boat launch facility allowing access to the Mississippi Sound from St. Martin.

This will be constructed on Race Track Road, but before the boat launch can be completed they must focus on road realignment in the area.

During the road work, a portion of Race Track Road and Beach Bayou Avenue will be closed starting Monday, October 6 and will last for approximately six weeks.

A detour route will be established during the duration of this road closure.

After that phase is completed, construction of the parking lot and boat launch will begin and the entire project is projected to be finished by summer 2026.

Once completed, it will relieve the strain on other boat launches in Jackson County and allow greater access to the Mississippi Sound.
