Harrison County Man Arrested On Sex Crimes Involving A Child

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)-Charges have been upgraded for a man who had been charged with sex crimes involving a child.

Thirty-six-year-old Kurtis Emmert has now been charged with one felony count of statutory rape and grooming of a child. Emmert had originally been charged with touching a child for lustful purposes.

According to Sheriff Matt Haley, Emmert went to the Harrison County Jail on Sunday and told deputies he impregnated a 12-year-old. As a result of the investigation, Emmert’s charges were upgraded.

He is being held in lieu of a $750,000 bond.
