Empty the Shelters campaign begins at Humane Society of South Mississippi

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- The Humane Society of South Mississippi kicked off its Empty the Shelters campaign Wednesday, coinciding with National Black Dog Day.

That is a day dedicated to raising awareness about black dogs, who are often overlooked in shelters.

The shelter encourages everyone to visit, meet the dogs, and open their hearts and homes during this campaign.

In celebration and support of the event, adoption specials are now available on all dogs, with a special spotlight on black dogs, who tend to wait longer to find homes.

The goal is to empty the shelters by helping every dog find the loving, permanent home they deserve.
