MDE release school accountability results

The Mississippi Department of Education released its accountability report for the 2024-2025 school year and all South Mississippi school districts earned high marks.

All districts earned either an ‘A’ or ‘B’ grade.

The ‘A’ grade districts in South Mississippi are:

  • Poplarville
  • Stone County
  • Jackson County
  • Ocean Springs
  • Biloxi
  • Gulfport
  • Harrison County
  • Long Beach
  • Bay Waveland
  • Hancock County
  • Pearl River County

In the six southern counties, four districts also received a B grade:

  • George County
  • Picayune
  • Moss Point
  • Pascagoula-Gautier

State education leaders consider a variety of things in calculating these grades, including proficiency in English and math, ACT scores for high schools, and graduation rates.

Poplarville had the highest graduation rate among our school districts at 96 percent.
