Gulfport man arrested on multiple charges including armed carjacking, kidnapping

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- A man has been arrested on multiple charges in Gulfport.

Thirty-three-year-old Reginald Johnson of Gulfport was charged with one count of armed robbery, one count of armed carjacking, and one count of kidnapping.

On September 8, officers responded to Dedeaux Road in reference to a carjacking.

Witnesses told officers that the suspect, identified later as Johnson, posed as a potential customer and requested to test drive a vehicle. During the test drive, he pulled out a gun, kidnapped the employee, and forced them to drive him to another location.

Once they arrived, Johnson allegedly stole the victim’s cellphone at gunpoint before forcing them out of the car.  Johnson fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

Through the course of the investigation, officers located the stolen vehicle and Johnson was taken into custody without incident.

Johnson was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $1,500,000 bond.
