Swimming in Front Beach
In Ocean Springs, Front Beach was empty most of the day. Up until one family decided to take a risk and swim out in the Gulf waters.
Despite the torrential conditions, this group waded out beyond the shoreline to swim and play in the wind and waves. The youngest of the crew even armed with a pair of swimmies to help stay afloat. Ocean Springs Resident Brady St. Amnt said, “We do this every time there is a tropical storm because it’s just fun to play in the waves because it’s a lot higher. The water level is higher so it’s just different. We came out here and didn’t think it was going to be a current and we got in the water and there wasn’t so we just went deeper and played.”
Officials have posted warnings along many stretches of South Mississippi beaches warning residents and visitors against going into the water due to the dangerous conditions.
