Gulfport-Biloxi Airport is Prepared for Potential Ebola Outbreak
Monday, officials with the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport say they are more than prepared if there is an Ebola outbreak at the facility.
Earlier this month, the first case of the virus being transmitted inside the United States was reported. Since then, hospitals and airports nationwide have put in place protocols to deal with any future outbreaks.
Jim Foster, Assistant Executive Director of the Gulfport-Biloxi Airport, says, “If an aircraft was inbound and a person on board was exhibiting Ebola like symptoms, then we have protocols in place where the aircraft would be isolated and that person would be met by medical crews from our airport aircraft rescue and firefighting service.”
The airport has not had to isolate any planes or passengers since putting its plan in place two weeks ago.
