Moss Point police searching for vehicles involved in fatal hit and run
MOSS POINT, Miss. (WXXV)- The Moss Point Police Department, with assistance from Mississippi Highway Patrol, is actively investigating a fatal hit and run.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 25 on Interstate 10 westbound between mile markers 68 and 69.
At 8:48 p.m., officers responded to reports of a crash involving a motorcyclist. According to officers, the motorcycle was struck from behind by a black Chevrolet Malibu, causing the rider to crash onto the roadway.
Moments later, an all white 18-wheeler traveling in the same direction, is believed to have struck the motorcyclist while he was down.
Both vehicles left the scene without stopping.
The victim was identified as 62-year-old Michael Urbani of Vancleave. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are seeking information regarding the two vehicles involved. The license plate number for both vehicles is unknown.
