Breakfast for Graduating Seniors
Over 500 graduating seniors were honored this morning by the Hancock Chamber of Commerce’s education committee.
This is the fourth year seniors from Hancock High, Bay High, St. Stanislaus and Our Lady Academy were brought together, celebrating the next generation of adult citizens. Mississippi’s first lady Deborah Bryant was the guest speaker. She encouraged students to reach for their goals and to realize they lived through Hurricane Katrina and have helped the Coast come back stronger. “We always bounce back. We bounce back stronger and better. As you can look at Bay St. Louis, this is a beautiful community and I think it actually came back better than it was before. It’s bad when hardships happen but hardships are going to happen all along the path of life and you deal with them and the way you deal with them makes all the difference.”
On each table were voter registration cards, encouraging students to take an active role in government and utilize their right to vote.
