Silent auction for Jamie Lee at American Legion Post 33

The American Legion Post 33 in Biloxi held a silent auction Sunday to raise money for Jamie Lee, whose husband died in VA care.
Approximately 52 items were up for auction, everything from gift cards to pictures and even tools to help raise funds for the family of four. Jamie Lee’s husband went to the VA Hospital in Boston to get treatment for PTSD and died one month later in March of unknown causes.
Lee tells News 25 she’s thankful for the American Legion and anyone who helps out, saying a little can go a long way. “So with them helping and doing this, it makes me realize that I do have a little inch of hope. I don’t have to give up just yet because it does feel like I’m not going to win. I’m just not going to get anywhere. I’m going to be in trouble, but then with the people here helping me, like I said, it just makes me realize that I’m not alone and I’ve got support and I can do it. Even though it feels like I can’t, it just makes me feel kind of good.”
Commander of American Legion Post 33 Timothy McGarry said, “Just the fact that he died in the VA, that’s just terrible and her two little children, the twins, they’re adorable, they’re absolutely adorable.”
With everything from the plate lunches and the silent auction, the American Legion was able to raise more than a thousand dollars for Jamie Lee and her three kids.
