Pearl River County School District announces selection of new superintendent

PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- The Pearl River County School District announces the selection of their new superintendent pending board approval.

The district announced Tuesday that they have selected Jeremy Weir to be the new superintendent.

Weir is a 1993 graduate of Pearl River High School and he will be taking the reins this summer.

Weir’s education career began in 2001 following his service in the Army.  During that time, he was a teacher and coach at Pearl River Central.

His transition to administrative roles began in 2011, serving as assistant principal and the principal in the Hancock County and Bay Waveland school districts.

The school board must approve Weir now. When that happens, he will assume the role in the summer.
