Deadline to receive REAL ID coming up

Gulfport, Miss. (WXXV)- The deadline to receive a REAL ID is coming up fast.

The Gulfport-Biloxi Airport inviting media out to learn what changes would be coming.

TSA Federal Security Director Kim Jackson sharing the Gold Star on your license will make it safer to get through security – the REAL ID Act being introduced in 2005.

Jackson saying if you don’t have the Gold Star, you may go through stronger security or even miss your flight.

“What will happen is you will be required to go through a more enhanced screening at that time. You could be subject to not fly. But you will be required to go through enhanced screening. It is something you will have to settle with your airline as you travel. That’s why we are trying to get the message out today, so there will be no delays when you travel.”

The deadline to receive a REAL ID is May 7.

The Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport has a service bureau on their first floor, that location is open 8 AM – 5 PM Monday through Friday.
