Ocean Springs High Theatre Department welcomed home after big win

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- The Ocean Springs High Theatre Department received quite the surprise Monday evening after winning national awards in Baltimore over the weekend for their production of ‘The Lost Boy.’

Led by a police escort, the troupe’s bus was welcomed back home with the cheers of fans. Parents and friends lining outside the school to meet the big winners who took first place for outstanding production while also taking home an All-Star Cast award.

The group was also recognized for Overall Technical Achievement and Best Supporting Actor.

Signs, confetti poppers, and lots of hugs met the group as they got off the bus, a welcome reward after months of dedication.

An added bonus for the theatre group, they also got to make a pit stop at the nation’s capital in Washington, D.C. on their drive back home.
