Eighth annual Mother’s Day Cookout for Seniors in Biloxi

Mother’s Day weekend is starting early here on the Coast. Earlier today in Biloxi, Woolmarket Senior Center and St. Joseph’s Hospice hosted their eighth annual Mother’s Day Cookout.

Last year, the event was canceled due to COVID, but now it is back. Local seniors were dancing their way to happiness and getting some fresh air.

The cookout served free hamburgers and hotdogs, peach cobbler, and other desserts.

The seniors also enjoyed live music and celebrated Older Americans Month. Coordinator Janet Meaut said, “We love doing community things just to get everyone out. Everyone’s been sheltered for so long and this gives them a great opportunity and St. Joseph’s Hospice has been wonderful. They’re so good about coming out and they also do crab boils, shrimp boils.”

The Woolmarket Community Center and St. Joseph’s Hospice will continue to host activities for seniors, getting them out and boosting moral.
