Local mail carriers protest privatization in Biloxi

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) – The National Association of Letter Carriers is led by President Brian Renfroe, a Hattiesburg, Mississippi, native and second-generation letter carrier who now works at the organization’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Renfroe says privatization would eliminate independent regulatory oversight on pricing and service, leading to higher shipping costs and making it harder for small businesses and rural residents to receive shipments.

According to the National Association of Letter Carriers, 200,000 letter carriers deliver 376 million pieces of mail daily, and the proposed executive order threatens 640,000 postal jobs.
