Drive-thru event on Saturday for National Take Back Day
National Take Back Day is Saturday. This is an event that the DEA pushes twice a year in April and in October.
During this day, you’re encouraged to safely dispose your expired or unused prescription drugs.
Singing River Health System will be collecting drugs in the parking lot of the Ocean Springs Hospital.
Students in the school of pharmacy at William Carey University will be assisting in the event that will be going on from 11 to 2, rain or shine. William Carey Assistant Professor Michael Bounds said, “It’s not the people who are prescribed these medications who usually have an issue with them. It’s the children or young adults in the home that can get access to the medications, intentionally or unintentionally. We encourage you to take the time to get the medications out, bring them to us so they don’t fall into the wrong hands.”
Participation is also recommended for the sake of the environment. Prescription drugs shouldn’t be flushed or thrown away because it can cause damage to our planet.
