Woolmarket resident dealing with yard flooding
A resident in the Woolmarket area is upset about the drainage and flooding issues on his property after the City of Biloxi dug a drainage ditch to the back of his home.
Greg Saucier says for about three years he has been dealing with issues with the City of Biloxi and the new subdivision built behind his home.
Saucier has been living in his home for over 30 years and has never dealt with flooding issues. Ever since the subdivision was built and the drainage ditch was dug, his yard has been flooding. “Only time its flooded was from Katrina and we have had water come up over that ditch five, ten, fifteen feet into the yard. I’m not saying that’s how deep it was but that’s how far up in the yard maybe even further than that. My daughter in-law said it was all the way up to the steps which you looking at a good 100 feet, but the property across from us, across the ditch, is sitting high and dry, no sitting water, no nothing. They are about two or three foot above grade, above our grade which I understand it’s supposed to only be one inch at the most.”
Saucier says he has been to board meetings and talked to city officials, but nothing has been done.
