St. Peter’s by the Sea Biscuit Brigade prepares food for Salvation Army cold weather shelters

Since 2017, St. Peter’s by the Sea’s Biscuit Brigade has been cooking biscuits for those utilizing the Salvation Army’s cold weather shelter in Gulfport.

Today, the name ‘Burrito Brigade’ might have been more fitting as they were cooking up burritos and hash browns donated to them by Feed my Sheep.

Every time the Salvation Army cold weather shelters are open, the brigade is up bright and early to drop off a bag of food to the Salvation Army so the homeless can have a warm meal before the shelter closes and they must head out for the day. Leader of the Biscuit Brigade Jan Shook said, “If there’s anyone who wanted to join us. We are a ministry within and without our church. All they have to do is call the church office and we will set them up and they come help us.”

St. Peter’s by the Sea also cooks breakfast on Saturday for the homeless at Feed my Sheep. They start cooking around 7:30 a.m. so they can deliver at 9 a.m.
