Superior Optical advances to round of 16 in Mississippi Makers’ Challenges

Superior Optical out of Ocean Springs has supplied eyewear to Mississippians since 1990.

After over twenty years of operation, their eyeglasses are now competing to be the best product in the state of Mississippi. Superior Optical President and CEO Derek Bodart said, “To have it voted on and be in the running for one of the best manufacturers in Mississippi is really an honor. We have a bunch of fantastic folks that are there and everyone participants to make this business better. That’s what we strive for.” 

Superior Optical is one of the few eye labs that has virtually every major lens setting their product apart from the rest. “We try to positions ourselves to be more competitive in the marketplace, especially the eye doctor space. Those markets our so sporadic some doctors want one brand and another wants something totally different. We try to do as much as possible to be a one stop shop for them.”  

What makes their products superior isn’t just the eyewear it’s who they serve that sets them apart. “One of our major cliental is the VA hospitals, we’re a veteran owned business and it’s very satisfying to make some glasses and put a smile on a veterans face. We just make a quality product and if that can help a veteran in some small way that’s fantastic.”
