Mark Seymour VFW Post 5699 is on a mission
They’ve served our country and now members of Mark Seymour VFW Post 5699 are serving our local community.
Their latest mission is to help a South Mississippi girl in her fight against cancer.
VFW Post 5699 Commander Lela Bremen and her crew are ready to draw blood, but it’s for a good cause: a blood drive to help three-year-old Harper Andrew in her battle against cancer.
Event organizers expect to see a continued outpouring of support as the Ocean Springs youngster continues her fight against this deadly disease. “I think a lot of people only see the happiness, the good times where she’s getting the gifts. They don’t see the treatments she’s going through.”
Commander Bremen and VFW Post 5699 member Brandi Miles are well-equipped, locked and loaded with decorations for the upcoming blood drive. “We went and picked up stuff for the silent auction we’re doing. We’re trying to decorate this place to make it be the best it can possibly be for the blood drive tomorrow and the silent auction for this little girl we’re trying to help.”
The blood drive for Harper is set to begin here tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. at the Mark Seymour VFW Post 5699 in Ocean Springs. Here’s what you need to bring with you if you plan to donate blood: “You need to have an ID, and you have to be 18 years old. If you don’t have an appointment scheduled that is ok. You can walk in here at the VFW. We’re located at 612 VFW Road in Gulf Islands National Seashore off Bienville in Ocean Springs. You can walk in. You don’t have to have an appointment. We’ll get you in to donate blood.”
The blood drive will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. tomorrow.
