Apartment fire in Long Beach

A fire broke out at Hampton House apartment complex in Long Beach. Residents say it started on a balcony of one of the units and quickly spread.

The fire impacted all units in the building.

William, the resident of the apartment where the fire began, shared that he, his wife, their son, two dogs, and two cats were inside when the fire broke out.  When WXXV 25’s Jordyn Lassiter arrived on the scene, the family was still searching for one of their dogs and one of their cats.

Davarion, a resident of another unit in the building, was able to quickly get his younger siblings to safety. He says he saw nothing but flames and smoke as they were evacuating.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Long Beach Fire Department says there will be an investigation.
