A Lucedale man will serve 40 years in prison after being convicted of child exploitation.

70-year-old Jimmie Ray Fields was sentenced to more than 100 years on three counts of child exploitation. The case was investigated by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office with assistance from Lucedale Police.

Fields was sentenced on October 2 to serve 40 years for each of the 25 counts of child exploitation relating to his possession of child sexual abuse material. Fields will serve the sentences concurrently, meaning he will spend 40 years in prison day-for-day without possibility of parole.

He will also have to register as a sex offender upon release.

“This office is proud to partner with law enforcement and prosecutors from around the state to protect Mississippi’s children from predators,” said Attorney General Lynn Fitch. “Together, we are making Mississippi a safer place for everyone.

“If you suspect a child is being exploited or abused, please report it to my office. Your tip could save a life.”
