Man taken into custody after standoff in Ocean Springs

An Ocean Springs man is in jail after a Saturday night standoff with law enforcement.

Ocean Springs Police Chief Ryan LeMaire said 58-year-old James Ball had outstanding warrants for aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Police say he locked himself in his home in the area of Halstead Road and Englewood Road on Saturday night. Officers were called out about 6:55 p.m.

Jackson County ESU was called in and took over the scene, taking Ball into custody about 9:30 p.m.

He was taken to the Jackson County jail. No bond has been set.
