Man dies after being hit by train in Ocean Springs

A man died when he was struck by a train in Ocean Springs on Tuesday night.

Officers responded to the tracks near 1118 Bienville Boulevard about 9:51 p.m. to find a man dead on the tracks.

Witness said the man was lying vertically on the tracks and did not respond to the westbound train’s warning of its approach. The train went into emergency mode and stopped after fatally striking the victim. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

After clearing the scene, the railroad tracks were reopened at 11:07 p.m.  The Ocean Springs Police Department and CSX are continuing to investigate this incident.
