Local Gifted Students Host Special Movie Screening for Farmers at Crosby Commons

PICAYUNE, MS – Gifted students from Roseland Park Elementary are stoked about soil, and they want to show their community why!

In an inspiring initiative, gifted students from the newly-formed club “Ground Up!” are inviting local farmers and community members to a special screening of the film Kiss the Ground at Crosby Commons on September 26th.

The students were moved to action after watching the film, which explores regenerative agriculture and the power of soil in reversing climate change. Determined to make a difference, they successfully petitioned the City Council for permission to host the event. The evening will feature a variety of delicious offerings from food trucks, which will begin serving at 5:00 PM.

The main event, the screening of Kiss the Ground, will start at 7:00 PM.

As a special thank-you to local farmers, those who reserve tickets in advance will be treated to a complimentary limousine ride at the event!

Student-led movie screening event in Picayune “This isn’t just about watching a movie,” said gifted teacher Summer Jacobsen.

“It’s about showing our local heroes – the farmers – that we appreciate everything they do for our community and the planet.”

Community members are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and an appetite for both food and inspiration! To reserve tickets, email Summer Jacobsen at sjacobsen@pcu.k12.ms.us.
