Shelters opening on the Coast for potential impact from Francine

In preparation for Tropical Storm Francine, shelters along the Gulf Coast are starting to open. WXXV News 25 will continue to update this list as more information becomes available.
The Poplarville Community Saferoom located at 124 Rodeo Street, will open and be managed by an American Red Cross Shelter Management Team, as a congregate shelter. The shelter will open at 8:00 PM on Tuesday September 10th, 2024.
The Picayune Community Saferoom located at 501 Laurel Street will open at 8:00 PM as well. It will open as a SAFEROOM ONLY. Pets are not allowed. Please bring anything you may need (Food, water, etc.)
The Carriere Community Saferoom will not be opened. The HVAC system is inoperable.
Harrison County will open three shelters on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024 at 9 a.m. to provide a safe space for residents evacuating ahead of potential ahead of weather from Tropical Storm Francine.
Shelter locations are:
- County Farm Road Shelter 15038 County Farm Road, Gulfport
- Lyman Senior Center (pet accommodations) 14592 County Farm Road, Gulfport
- D’Iberville High School 15625 Lamey Bridge Road, Biloxi, MS
- Lobouy Road Shelter 9505 Lobouy Road, Pass Christian, MS
The Hancock County Emergency Management Agency, in coordination with the American Red Cross and the Mississippi Department of Human Services, will be opening a shelter. The Kiln shelter will open Tuesday, September 10th at 7 p.m. Please make sure to bring all items to be self-contained. Pets will not be allowed in the general population shelters. The Jackson County Office of Emergency Services has called for the American Red Cross to open a 361 Emergency Shelter at 9:00AM, Wednesday – September 11, 2024.
